Who is greedy?

Ever since the creation of the world, man has devised a means to trade. I got so inquisitive way back when we were taught 'Trade by barter' in economics in my secondary school days. Perhaps, that explains why some folks traded their brothers for guns and ammunition to protract their selfish interest. Quite a sensitive issue I don't want to delve in right now, I better stop here before I pour out my stored vented emotions lying dormant for years. You don't want to see me explode. (lols)

I happened to be at a little store which is just a stone throw away from my house. Its made of a  red steel container, wooden ones are easy meat to unmerciful thieves. Actually I had taken some time off from work to make time to clean my house left unattended too for weeks. Arriving there, I met  two young men and a beautiful fair skinned lady, immediately I kind of got attracted to her and surprisingly, she too played for the attention. Sounds like my lucky day right? lols. One thing led to the other the four of us got engaged in conversations, the three of them making light jokes of each other while I did laugh my heart out, the right moment of relief from some household chores I have been engaged for some couple of hours that morning.

The conversations got interesting and one of it was 'cyber crime'. A big problem confronting young people these days. Yes, we are young and energetic, our sight is set on breaking off the survival stage to the successful stage of life. Nothing wrong with that  but what's wrong is our level of impatience, our hunger for immediate satisfaction is leading many of us to unseen and unavoidable disaster. We want to get rich quick! My young neigbour has a car and I don't have none, we want to be like him/her but you don't know what they do. He introduces you to some friends; before you know it, its too late! What could be the cause for the increase in cyber crime? What's going wrong? Are they just being greedy or they are they just being smart?  I hear in some certain quarters it has gone way high to what they call 'Yahoo Plus'. (Yahoo Diabolical)

While we looked at this issue, we asked ourselves a sincere question: Who is greedy? The victims or the cyber criminals. Are cyber criminals just being smart? We differed in our answers but what we left with is this: Cyber crime is damaging the Nigerian brand in the diaspora! I feel for our brothers and sisters over there, I guess it must be quite mentally tough dealing with such. There are fine honest hard working Nigerians everywhere in the world but no thanks to the foolish activities of a few spoiling everything. Why would I have hide my identity from a fellow Nigerian in the diaspora? That is from a Nigerian to Nigerian talk less of other nationalities. Honestly speaking, this is sad! A news once trended about a popular young musician who was allegedly arrested for nothing but committing a cyber crime offence in the USA, instantly he turned Shaggy claiming 'It wasn't me' like the Jamaican-American reggae artist sang in one of his numerous albums titled 'Hot Shot' in August 8, 2000.

All said and done, cyber crime is no trade or payback for the atrocities committed in the name of slave trade. I believe today's youths do not have elders to mentor them, still, all hope is not lost. Wherever you are and whatever you do, play a role, invest your time in educating and guiding a youth on the merits of patience and the good rewards of hard work. Perhaps you might be the one that young boy or girl next door needs for right counsel! Lend a hand and let's create the necessary impact in our community and nation.

Note: There is one  more story to tell of the beautiful lady's experience in the hands of swindlers we typically called 'One Chance'. Coming soon!

My story

My name is Olugbenga Falusi and welcome to my blog. Many times in life what you are actually looking for is right under your nose. You search the depths and find nothing, your soul becomes restless seeking expression. I'm sure that resonates with a lot of us! What you need at such moments are people who see your talents and skills and can point to you the direction to go. They may have to push you, follow up to ensure the beauty they see in you is fully manifested not just for them but more for the benefit of the world. My story: Right from when I was a kid, the art got a better  part of me. I wanted to know how to draw but to my own amazement, I could not even draw an orange, I struggled over the years to be someone else, my primary school classmates were so good at making comics and I would buy from them using my lunch money. I cared less about getting food to eat, I wouldn't let go though I accepted my fate. One day, somewhere, life situation did hit me and that sp

How RCCG City of David Abuja moved and celebrated their thanksgiving service at Utako, Abuja

The call to ministry is not really what is accepted with pomp and pageantry rather it is a moment of sober reflection and preparation for greater responsibility to God and humanity. Iya Alakara

Iya Alakara (The Beans Cake Seller) We call her Iya Alakara (Beans cake seller) because her akara is the best, though she sells other fried foods. Akara is a popular delicacy eaten in Nigeria , it is made from grinding beans,  then mixed with various sauce ingredients and then shaped in the form of a ball before being fried in either a hot palm or vegetable oil. It is eaten with variety of other foods like fried yam, pap and even bread for a proper balance diet. Her spot cannot be mistaken, it is strategically located for commuters and passers-by to easily spot. Walking through my street about three nights ago, I thought hard on my next content for the blog.  Only a hot akara and pap would do at the moment; the thought of cooking would have been  a mission impossible. I have had enough for the day.  So here I was, readily seated right in front of her,  the little smoke emanating from the firewood was not enough to deter me from satisfying  my crave for akara. In no
