Your first day at work

If I have to recount my various first day at work at each of the organizations I've worked, I must confess it was a day I will look back at and laugh uncontrollably.

What happened?
Having to travel from one state to another, wake up early to avoid getting late to work and more especially knowing where to enter the bus to the office was part of it. Where I stayed was directly opposite a mosque, and you can hear their typical loud call for prayer, I think something has to be done about these noise pollution from our religious centers. So definitely no need for alarm bells to wake me up at 5 o' clock in the morning.

While still deep in my sleep in the early hours, an uninvited, unexpected alarm welcomed me to the day. I was terribly disgusted! I tried to sleep back but it won't be. The alarm won't stop and my eyes won't close. I starred at the ceiling wondering for how long I will have to cope with this.

Grudgingly stood up from the bed, made preparations for the day, I remember there was no light......I thought....this is it!

The question is: what is it about first days at work? what happens to us on the first day?

Many things happen and can happen on a first day at work. Under your breath you pray nothing embarrassing happens, you ……am sure you know what am talking about…..even if your voice is a little bit croaky, baba blue is there to the rescue. (Lols)

I don't know of anyone that got late to work on the first day, but I know Mr Bean can. For crying out loud……you don’t want your name on the late comers register, so you’ll probably be the first to arrive at work.

Everyone is smiling and welcoming you though it won't be like that always, you enjoy the attention while you become the obedient servant.  You want to create a lasting impression on your first day. I know it because I have been there.

One lasting, you want to know the good, the bad and the ugly and when the day’s over, it's a tale waiting to be told.

Our first day at work nervousness is real, we may want to hide it but then we all experience it.

How was your first day at work? Please share your thoughts below.

Meet the Greatest Grandmother of All Time

Image credit  Ayandeji Shots What joy fills the atmosphere at the first cry of a new born baby, what joy awaits them in the arms of sweet grandmothers like mine. Grandmother Oreolorun Awawu Omofoyeke Sunmonu Aleri , is an unmistakable rare jewel and a beaming light in the Adesoye family. A mother, grandmother and great grandmother and if God wills, great great grandmother. Long may you live my dear grandma. The wife of my great and industrious grandfather, Late Pa Kasumu Adesoye from the royal lineage town of Iresi in Osun State, Nigeria.  A popular culture celebrates loved ones when they pass on but its only wise for me to celebrate and honour a matriarch who has rightfully etched her name in the grandma’s all time hall of fame (lols). A true queen that never wore a crown neither coveted one, contented with all she has received of the hands of G...

Iya Alakara

Iya Alakara (The Beans Cake Seller) We call her Iya Alakara (Beans cake seller) because her akara is the best, though she sells other fried foods. Akara is a popular delicacy eaten in Nigeria , it is made from grinding beans,  then mixed with various sauce ingredients and then shaped in the form of a ball before being fried in either a hot palm or vegetable oil. It is eaten with variety of other foods like fried yam, pap and even bread for a proper balance diet. Her spot cannot be mistaken, it is strategically located for commuters and passers-by to easily spot. Walking through my street about three nights ago, I thought hard on my next content for the blog.  Only a hot akara and pap would do at the moment; the thought of cooking would have been  a mission impossible. I have had enough for the day.  So here I was, readily seated right in front of her,  the little smoke emanating from the firewood was not enough to deter me from satisfyi...
